RENATE – Packaging design for Queen Silvia

Silvia Renate, born Sommerlath, is the Swedish Queen and married to Carl XVI Gustaf. She is the daughter of a German father and a Brazilian mother. Silvia is known for being highly sophisticated and classy and has a big interest in gardens - having more than one flower named after her.

The project included design, concept and name for Silvia’s Rheingau Riesling. It’s always interesting with contrasts and this was the perfect opportunity to show Silvia’s two very different upbringing cultures. Taking the German side of her merged together with the Brazilian to look like the playing card Queen. Placing the rose which is named after her as well as the national flower of Brazil in the lady's hands is to give further hints about the messenger. The label is like a self portrait of Silvia without showing her face or well known name.

Renate Riesling is for the sophisticated and modern wine drinkers. The design makes it possible to expand the target group and not only attract those who’s a fan of Silvia or celebrity wine in general.
